What's up

Hello! Hope everyone had a good weekend. I went to see a local firework display and it reminded me of the pictures that I took last year. I was so excited about my new camera. This year I was more interested in just spending time with my friends. Here a couple of 2009 pictures.

Not the best but I was excited about playing with the focus and shutter speed :) I don't take enough pictures anymore. I'm considering doing a 365 project. Has anybody else done this?

07. Summary

I don't like promising to do something on a certain day anymore. So my summary's are just going to be summary's not on a specific day.

Today is a very happy day, because today I passed my driving test! I was so shocked to hear I had passed. Not passing last time (because of hitting a curb..) had an effect on me definitely. Every little mistake I made, or thought I made, I was panicking thinking that I had failed. I am so happy! I even went for a drive on my own and I couldn't stop smiling.

Hair: Before & After

Firstly, excuse the photobooth pictures, but it's the easiest way to take pictures sometimes. I hadn't had my hair cut in about a year and a half.

This was my hair in July 2009.

My hair on saturday morning.

My hair on saturday evening.
I'm really not sure what to make of it. It is so difficult to style and my fringe is just unbearable. But it will grow (I always tell myself this to make myself feel better haha) It feels much much healthier, so I guess it was worth it.
What do you think?

(and yay for a post that isn't a summary haha)

06. Sunday Summary

I'm rubbish at sticking with weekly posts. I think it may be because I haven't had much of a routine, until now that is. I got a job! Finally! It's not the most exciting job. But a job is a job. And I'm sort of still looking something else. I have only been there a week but I feel like I need more than 12 hours already. I'm a bit of a workaholic, if college and school were anything to go by.

I have had my hair cut. Goodbye split ends. Hello annoying cut that I can't deal with. Haha. I got a fringe again and I have no idea how to style it! It doesn't help that it's pretty short. I am planning on doing a before and after post when I can get a decent picture.

I have a busy week ahead. Visiting friends, appointments, work (love that I can say that) but I'm in the mood to post more now so when I get a chance.

Have anything exciting planned this week? Let me know :) xo

05. Sunday Summary

Hello again! Another Sunday summary. Although technically this should be the 5th one, but I really just didn't want to write last week. This week however, I do want to write :)

It is half past 12 on Sunday morning as I write this because I am feeling invincible and therefore I don't need sleep just yet! I have been sat here thinking how I haven't done anything really exciting in a while and I started making a list. A list of things I want to do. Some may call it a bucket list. I won't be calling it that because I don't like that phrase.
Mine is growing rapidly, and full of the simplest things such as 'Picnic' to bigger things such as places and countries I want to visit.

image from weheartit.com :)

I am going to start this ASAP. May even do one tomorrow, if I'm not busy! And of course I will document it.

So my question to you is, do you have a list like this? Maybe even just a mental list? Let me know!

04. Sunday Summary

Well well well, this week I am actually on time posting this! (even better, I am writing this in advance) this week has gone by pretty quick but I have spent a few days just fretting (is that a word?) about an interview for a full time, xmas temp vacancy at John Lewis. I am not getting my hopes up though because I didn't feel it went fantastically (I got stuck when I had to sell a Tracey Beaker lunch box to my assessor!) I should hopefully know by mid week.

just like this one!

I am getting frustrated with some jobs that I am applying for. I applied for a temp job at Boots a couple of weeks ago and I have not heard anything yet. I can't wait this long! Same for Next! I just need to know so I can apply for more jobs if needs be, although I always am anyway.

I went shopping with my sister and friend yesterday and picked up a few things. My sister kindly bought me a top from Miss Selfridge to cheer me up, so I may do a post on that.

I feel like my blog posts are getting more and more depressing each week! I am so sorry! I will try and post a few more things in between these kind of posts and include more pictures. Pictures are much more appealing to most people than words!

Have a lovely Sunday!

03. Sunday Summary

Sorry it is a day late again.. Another week gone by. Doing these weekly posts really puts into perspective how fast time goes.

This week was good and bad. The bad was i failed my driving test for such a silly reason! By never mind, hopefully i will pass next time. The good was going to visit my friend and spending the day with her. I actually had so much fun!

Still no luck finding a job although there are loads more vacancies at the mo, i guess with people more to uni and that.
I have a job interview at John Lewis on Thursday and I actually have no idea what to wear! I know I need to dress smartly.. but I don't know how to ahaha oh dearr..

For The Body Shop interview I just wore black skinny jeans, a pink t shirt and ankle boots. Everyone there was dressed differently, from jeans and t shirts (like me) to suits.

I'm in the middle of jazzing up the blog layout, so its going to look a bit rubbish for a few days while i sort it out.

Any suggestions for what to wear would be great :) have a lovely week!

02. Sunday Summary (A Day Late..)

Oops, was quite busy yesterday and completely forgot to do this until I was too tired last night.

Anyway, hopefully this week will be a good one! I'm still on a job hunt. A lot of temporary jobs are coming up now for Christmas, but I really want something more permanent! I'm beginning to lose track of where I have applied for.

One of the main reasons I want a job so badly is because I want to start saving for a car! I'm thinking a Corsa but I haven't decided yet! At the moment I am sharing with my sister, it'd be nice to have my own ASAP. The car I really want is a Renault Clio, but I won't be able to afford it for a while. Do you have a car? If so, What do you have? If you don't, whats your dream car? :)

Laters! xo

01. Sunday Summary

I really want to do a weekly post on general things so there is some sort of consistency with my blog. So, I introduce you to Sunday Summary! Just gathering all of the weeks happenings and squashing it into a little post. Sound good? I hope so.

First up, Hello followers! How are you? :)

This week was fairly busy. I have been going into town a lot looking for a job. I'm really not having much luck, but I got to keep looking!  I had an unsuccessful group interview at The Body Shop, but I have a group assessment in a few weeks at John Lewis for a Christmas temp job. I'm still looking for something more permanent though.

My hair is getting long, but I'm not very happy with how dry it is feeling and I can't decided whether to cut or keep it! Help me decide?!

I am pretty happy with my results! I really was expecting to fail english but I passed with a C! I also got a C in psychology and I got a B in photography. So I'm happy with that!
If you got results, how did you do?

Barbie Nails

This is what I wore on my nails last week, I absolutley loved it and I wish I had more sheer, shimmery colours so that I could create pretty combinations like this!

This is Barry M's bright pink, which I originally hated, but like it now! With Urban Decay's Love Light from the summer collection on top.

L: Urban Decay Love Light, R: Barry M Bright Pink

Sorry for the not-so fantastic light! Can you believe I studied photography?! I seriously need to work on it!

What are your favourite nail combo's?! Leave some recommendations in the comments :)

Have a good week! xo

Yaby Freestyle Palette

As you may know from previous posts, I have acquired a few Stila eyeshadows. They come as pans unless you buy the pot, and this can be a little annoying, having to open and close a flimsy plastic case every time I wanted to use it, so I decided to buy a palette.
I didn't fancy one of Stila's palettes as they don't hold very many. So I got the Yaby Freestyle Palette.

Pros
  • It's sturdy, with a good clip shut.
  • The magnet is very strong!
  • It can fit any eyeshadow, blush etc.

Cons
  • The white looks good, but it is becoming dirty very quickly.
  • The mirror is warped :( so no good to use to apply make up. (Although it would be used as a palette for mixing)

I really do like this palette! I love being organised and it is easy to be with a palette. I really tempted to depot my alice in wonderland palette now. I can't wait to try Yaby eyeshadows either, that will definetly be buying some soon :) You can get Yaby in the UK from The make up artist boutique, although a lot of things seem to be out of stock :(

What are your favourite palettes? and What Yaby products do you like best?

Oily skin vs Dry skin Products.

I use to have oily skin, but since starting roaccutane, it has completely dried out, as expected. This meant a 360 for my skincare products.

I'll start with facewash. I use to use Nivea clean deeper daily scrub. I really liked this but this would have a similar effect to sandpaper on dry, sensitive skin so I switched it up to L'Oreal's perfect clean for dry/sensitive skin. This is awesome. It doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or dry and if I feel the need for a little exfoliation, the scrublet (I think thats what it's called?!) is perfect as it is gently, but it does the job! These are about £5 each depending on where they are bought and both last about 6 weeks.

I wish I could include a toner at this point but I haven't tried that many and I don't use them on a regular basis.

Next moisturiser! A must for anyone whatever skin type you have, there is one for you!
For oilier skin, I always used one of Simple's moisturiser. To me Simple is a no fuss kind of brand which I love, but it was way to light for my dry skin and I wanted one with an SPF so I started using Olay daily sensitive UV fluid. It is really good, the last thing anyone with dry skin wants is dry, sunburnt skin. Not a good combination. If I have a bad day, I mix this with a bit of my night moisturiser or a 1-2 drops of bio-oil.

In order to keep this short, I am going to do a second post for night moisturiser and body products.

What are your favourite skin care products?

xo

Hello.

Two things.
1) I am a terrible blogger for my lack of updates!
2) I have no excuse for it.

I finished college on the last day of June. July has just gone by so quick, I can't even remember what I did. It is now August and job hunting has been taking up most of my time. I am not going back to college (I don't think) nor am I going to uni, so getting a job is high on my list of priorities. I don't really know what I want to do. I'm thinking of going into retail so I get to work with people as oppose to sitting at a desk or something. I really don't like sitting at desks.

Does anyone have any tips for finding a job?

Tomorrow I want to do a post on the Yaby freestyle palette, so look out for that! I just need some decent light to take pictures for you :)

Two things you should know about!

The lovely Gem is having a big giveaway on her blog! So check it out here and enter to be in with the chance to win!

Also I spotted that Urban Decay cream shadows were half price on ASOS. Good price in my eyes! I have ordered a couple so i will review them when I get them and have tested them!

:)

Life! Exams! Cars!

Usually when exams are coming up, time flies by and I never feel prepared. This time around, exams can’t come soon enough. I have my first one next Monday! I feel like I have been off college for ages (I’m not sure if I am suppose to go in or not..) but I haven’t been in for a lesson since before half term.
I am going to be so happy when these exams are over. Hopefully they will be the last exams I ever take. I have come to realise that this whole studying and exams business is not for me and I am so glad that I didn’t apply for uni. So many people think this is a mistake, but I don’t like the idea of university. It’s not for everyone!

Apart from revising, I have been concentrating loads on my driving. I got my car last week (Tuesday) and I have been out in it nearly everyday. I really want to pass my test before the new driving test comes in in October, which apparently is going to be really difficult, so I am practicing as much as I can.
Here's a rather rubbish picture. But it's the only one I have!

As far as this blog goes, I will resume when I can. I can’t do much make up at the moment, my skin is feeling rather sorry for it’s self from roaccutane and I just don’t want to make it any worse!

Now I will be going back to revision while the house is still quiet!

My Wishlist

Don't we all just wish we had endless amount of money to spend on material things! I have been eyeing a few things up lately and decided to share them with you.

First, I was checking out Boots website earlier looking for a liquid eyeliner and I saw that they now sell Pixi Cosmetics which I had seen in Youtube videos and wanted to try, but ASOS is the only place I could find that sells it.

I really want to try the Illuminating Tint and Conceal. Quite pricey, but pretty good reviews on Make Up Alley (my go to before buying products!) I am going to hold off buying this until I have sorted my skin out (which is a long, long process) but i'm getting there :)

I don't really have a liquid liner. I use to but it probably dried out. So Im going to have a look next time i'm out (hopefully sometime this week, i'm so in the shopping mood! can you tell?!) but I think i want a felt/sponge tip liner like the L'Oreal Paris Super Liner!

I saw these Revlon lipglosses when I was in Superdrug yesterday and I really want to try them. I swatched the Coral, it was gorgeous! But trying to be good, I didn't buy it. I also swatched the Lilac shade. Pretty, but not really my thing. Packaging looks something like below, I couldn't find a decent picture though :(

And last thing (even though I could think of plenty more!) are converse light. I have always been a converse kinda person i guess, and the ones i have now are wrecked from work. I want to try converse light because I think they look more delicate (for lack of a better word) I can't decided between the grey and navy though! I definetly don't want black.

So that its, let me know, what's on your wishlist? :)

Make up Storage

Leanne over at Do Not Refreeze posted her make up and nail polish storage and i felt like joining in the fun! I love seeing others storage and collection, so here i am sharing my organised mess!

Luckily, I am able to keep my make up and nail stuff in a couple of draws. I used to have an ikea draw thing, which is a popular way of keeping orangised, but i just got annoyed with it after a couple of months. I reused the draws from the ikea set, to put inside the draws i used now. And i'll show you what i did with the main part of it at the end of the post :)

I sit here, just behind my bedroom door every morning to get ready. Not the best lighting but my vanity mirror lights up!

On the top I have my vanity mirror, brushes, a small pot for hair bands and pins, my small jar of brushes, hair stuff and daily moisturisers, perfume, hair brushes and my alice in wonderland palette.

In my the top draw I keep most of my make up. For left to right, lips stick/balm/gloss, eye stuff in the next, eyeshadow, foundation, eye lash curlers and foundation in the third, in the pink chocolate box is face stuff (concealers, blushes, highlights etc) and finally standing in the side is palettes.

Then in the draw underneath I keep miscellaneous things with my nail polish.  On the left there is a couple of hair curlers, pocket tissues, a small box with bows and other hair clips, under that is a box of sea salt.. yep.. its for cleaning piercings :P

And this is what i did with the base of the ikea draw set.

It fits at the side of my desk perfect to hold my college folders!

So that is it! My humble collection of goodies :) Please link me to your posts or leave a comment telling me how you organise yours :) xx

Stila Ultamate Set

I said I wanted to try some more Stila in my last post, and i just couldn't help myself when i saw this.

This set contain illuminating tinted moisturiser, eyeshadows in Golightly, Mystic, Kitten and Wheat, lipglaze in 'Ultamate', a mini convertible colour in Peony and Major Lash Mascara in Black.

I have had this set for a couple of weeks now and I am pretty impressed. The only thing that i was disappointed with was the blue eyeshadow. The pay off is awful. I'm thinking what makes the other shadows so buttery and dreamy is the fact that they are so shimmery.

L-R Wheat, Kitten, Golightly, Mystic (boo) and Peony

Kitten is definetly a favourite of mine already, showing a very slight dent already.

When i get around to it i want to review these products in full! This probably won't happen for a while because of damn college :( but once my exams and coursework are out of the way, there will be no excuse for my lack of blog posts!

Let me know if there is anything you want a review on :)

Review: Stila Eyeshadow - Cloud

I recently bought a few things from CheapSmells. A website i found when looking for make up. They sell discounted perfume and cosmetics from a range of brands. I was excited mostly over the cheap Stila and the fact they sell NYX - I'm always interested in trying different brands.

I got this one eyeshadow - Cloud - and i love it.

It's smooth, blendable and buttery almost. I could see this easily breaking if it was dropped, but it is a dream to work with. The color looks very, very neutral grey-brown in the pan but comes out as more grey, and is quite shimmery. The colour pay off is fantastic - I am impressed.
One critism i have, which wouldn't bother everyone, is that it does come in pan form. I am keeping it in the plastic case it comes in but i think i will buy a magnetic palette eventually.

This cost £3.45 (RRP £11) from cheapsmells.com. The postage can become pretty pricey if you buy a lot, but for a few things, its not so bad. This took 3 or 4 days to come, i can't remember exactly so not bad shipping and all products i bought were packaged in loads of bubble wrap, so weren't likely to break.

Have you tried Stila? Do you recommend any products from them? I definetly want to try some more :)

MAC Haul

Having been watching youtube videos and reading blogs for a couple of years now, i knew it wouldn't be long until i couldn't resist mac cosmetics. It is one of the most popular cosmetic brands i see and hear about, but i have never figured out why. Last week, i decided i wanted to add some brushes to my collection. I already own quite a few smashbox brushes, which some i got as a birthday gift, and some i got in a smashbox set that i purchased from QVC a couple of years ago. However, on there own they are pretty pricey. So after searching online, i honestly couldn't find much in terms of brushes. I didn't want to spend a fortune, but everyone seems to rave about mac brushes, so i thought what the hell, it won't hurt to try one. I decided to get the 217. After reading reviews and seeing videos, i guess it looks versatile. It can be used for cream products, powders and use on the lid and in the crease.

I'm pretty happy with my purchase. I was hesitant at first, because £14.50 is a fair bit of money to spend (with my not very full bank it is anyway) But as a more positive way of thinking about it, it is in a way an investment. I know i will use this brush, it looks well made and feels it - So hopefully it will last long. I used it today and i really like that it is quite flat on either side but also tapered to use it for blending.

I also bought some brush cleaner. I have always just washed my brushes under the tap with a face wash or something (not great i know) but it was such a chore, i hope this saves me a little time!

What have you been buying lately?

:) x

New Shoes!!

At first the zip was completely stuck on one boot and I couldn't get it undone, I really didn't want to send them back because they came from Germany.. Which I didn't realise at the time of buying.. But luckily my dad fixed them! Yay! They are Blowfish Hybrid Boots and I got them from this Amazon market place store.. And the delivery was pretty fast considering that they came from Germany and best of all, it was free!

Product of the Week (Possibly a new weekly thing?)

This product isn't new to me, just a little gem i rediscovered after i sorted out all my make up.
This is Barry M Dazzle Dust in number 51. I think it is the most wearable dazzle dust i own, i usually go for the bright shades when buying these.

I love using this for a bit of colour, but when im not in the mood for anything fancy or over the top, i just sweep this on the lids and blend it a little and im done!

Whats your favourite Barry M colour?

xx

NOTD :)

I have gotten back into painting my nails yay! They are quite a mess from work, so covering it up with colour makes me feel better.

This is Barry M Cyan Blue.. I wanted to paint my nails blue, but once i put this on i wasn't loving it, to me it looks better in the bottle. I don't hate it, but its not my favourite.

I haven't forgotten about this blog, in fact i have a couple of posts planned in my head, but i can't do them just yet.
There have been a few tag posts around lately, i think i might get one of those down later this week, but I'm super busy right now.
I really wish i had more time for blog posts, but i will hopefully have something up this week though, yayyyy!

Here are some pictures for you, even though I'm sure you have seen this already, a lot of people have been reviewing it. My images aren't great because of lighting but i didn't want to wait until tomorrow!

I am so happy with this palette! The colours aren't to crazy bright, like with my Urban Decay Deluxe Palette, although not all neutral, much more wearable. The quality is great as all of you who are familiar with Urban Decay products will know.

All of these colours are original UD colours, just renamed so if you already have another book of shadow or a lot of shadows from UD, this might not interest you too much.

The palette is limited edition and only avaliable from Debenhams. When i checked, it was sold out on the website but keep checking it might come back in stock! Or check your Debenhams store if you can.
People are selling them on eBay but don't get ripped off! This palette costs £28 new, but with some clever searching i found some discount for debenhams.com and got some money off.

I hope to post some looks with these colours soon! :)
